How does it work and what to expect:
Cups are placed on your skin, and by using a manual pump a vacuum is created which draws the skin in. The suction stimulates muscle and fascia tissue, increases blood flow, and helps relieve tension. During dry cupping the cups are left on anywhere from five to twenty minutes. During myofascial or sliding cupping oils or waxes are used to move the cups. The vacuum action of the cups creates negative pressure (pulling up) to decompress the connective tissue which creates more space and fluid can move through easily. Cupping can leave marks, they are not bruises.; it’s part of the process. Normally, they will disappear in a few days.
After the cupping session you may feel the same as before. Clients often report a feeling of light-headedness and fatigue, mild headaches and body aches may also be experienced.
It is important that you increase your water intake after the cupping therapy. You have just moved around a lot of built up toxins in your body, and your body will need water to help flush out your lymphatic system and fully remove the toxins from your body.
Cupping can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment or alone .
